Opening Day 2011
Sorry about yesterday guys i had some technical difficulties with my internet but it is all fixed now, and good luck to all baseball fans in the start of the MLB season today. Last night the Miami Heat defeated the Washington Wizards 123-107. The Big 3 combined for 94 points and Jordan Crawford added 38 points for the Wizards in the loss. Also in the NBA, The New Orleans Hornets defeated the Portland Trailblazers 95-91 in the Western Conference Playoff race. Carl Landry led the way for the Hornets with 21 points and Chris Paul added 11 points 12 assists and 4 steals, LaMarcus Aldridge had 25 points and 15 rebounds in the loss. In the NHL, the New Jersey Devils edged the New York Islanders 3-2 in a must win game for the Devils. Kovalchuk had 1 goal and 1 assist for the Devils and Nielsen tallied up 2 goals in the loss for the Islanders.
In other news, Randy Velarde testified in the Barry Bonds trial yesterday stating that Bonds' trainer Greg Anderson sold him steroids. Things are looking worse and worse for Bonds as nearly everyone who steps to the stand seems to make him look more guilty than before. Also, ESPN analyst Jalen Rose admitted and apologized for his BAC being over the limit in a car accident earlier this month. Road conditions were icy and may have been a factor for making his car veer off the road.
What To Watch For/Predictions:
MLB: Tigers Vs. Yankees 1:05 PM (Yankees)
MLB: Brewers Vs. Reds 2:10 PM (Reds)
MLB: Giants Vs. Dodgers 8 PM (Giants)
NBA: Celtics Vs. Spurs 8 PM (Spurs)
NBA: Maverics Vs. Lakers 10:30 PM (Lakers)
NHL: Kings Vs. Canucks 10:30 PM (Canucks)
"Star" of the Day:
The NBA is currently investigating Jay Z's presence in Kentucky's locker room after their victory which gave them a berth to this years Final Four in Houston. NBA rules prohibit team personnel from having contact with players who are not yet draft eligible. Come on Jay Z we know you're a rapper, but the rules still apply.

Updated "Star" of the Day
Just minutes after making my first post it came out that Dez Bryant has received a second civil lawsuit in 2 days for owing about $850,000 for jewelry and sporting event tickets, that he didn't pay for. Does anyone else find this utterly ridiculous from someone who made $2.84 million last year and is scheduled to at least make $1.1 million this year with $1 million in roster bonuses?
Melo-Dramatic
Last night the New York Knicks edged the Orlando Magic 113-106 in an overtime thriller in which Carmelo Anthony said before the game was a "must win." Although he may have been a little dramatic about the situation, the veteran dropped 39 points and also added 10 rebounds for the double double. Also in the NBA, the Philadelphia 76ers beat the Chicago Bulls last night 97-85 which ended the Bulls 14 game home winning streak. Thaddeus Young led the way for the 76ers with 21 points and 7 rebounds, Derrek Rose still in the hunt for the MVP had 31 points 4 rebounds 5 assists and 3 steals in the loss.
In other news the NFLPA will not have a separate ceremony for the draft and will allow rookies to make the decision whether or not they want to attend the draft. To me this is the right thing to do by the players association because it would not be fair to the rookies to take their only draft night away from them.
What to watch for:
NHL: Flyers Vs. Penguins 7pm
NBA: Heat Vs. Cavaliers 7pm (Lebron returns to Cleveland....again)
NCAAB: (NIT) Alabama Vs. Colorado 9pm (battle of two teams that got robbed of a tournament bid)
Predictions:
Flyers, Heat (by 15), Alabama (by 3)
"Star" of the day:
Yesterday, Kimberly Bell who was an Ex-mistress of Barry Bonds testified in Bonds' ongoing perjury investigation. She stated that she knew of Bonds' steroid use and was there when he was given steroids by his trainer. She then said when Bonds' knew of her knowledge he threated her and said that is she told he would "cut her throat and breast implants (which he paid for)." C'mon Barry just admit you used the needle like your friends and take the minuscule sentence that they will give you.
